So many lotions to choose from

There is an abundant amount of lotions available on the market today offering many soothing and therapeutic qualities for the skin. You can find lotion in just about any scent, and made from many different ingredients. There are goat’s milk lotions, sheep’s milk lotions, soy lotions; the list goes on and on. Many body and hand lotions come in jars or tubes that can be either pumped or squeezed out. The lotion itself is a cream substance that is spread onto the skin. If you are shopping for lotions and browsing different sites and see lotions bars, you may be confused and wondering what is a lotion bar.

What are lotion bars?

Lotion bars unlike body lotions and creams are a solid bar having a waxy texture to it. Lotion bars are typically made with skin loving ingredients like Shea butter, jojoba, coconut oil, beeswax, grape seed oil mixed with pure essential oils. This blend of ingredients locks the moisture in allowing deep penetration and long lasting results. You may experience a greasy feeling at first but just give it a few seconds while rubbing it in to allow these natural ingredients to be absorbed. In just a very short time you should soon be experiencing very silky and smooth skin.

How to use lotion bars

Lotion bars are great for treating those very hard callused areas such as the hands, elbows, or the heels of your feet, and are great for cuticles. They are solid at room temperature, but once you hold the lotion bar in your hands for a few seconds your body heat will soften it a bit allowing you then to start rubbing the bar in those much needed areas. You may find that you do not need to keep reapplying throughout the day like many body lotions; hard lotion bars have long lasting effects.

Hard lotion bars are great to have on hand and unlike some lotion jars and pumps, lotion bars typically come in small tin containers which make them very convenient for traveling. They fit very easily in your pocket, purse, toolbox, etc. If you are suffering from damaged cuticles or hard cracked callused skin a solid lotion bar may be just what your skin needs.

Fabulous! I was wondering what a lotion bar is. This certainly sounds like something I want to try. Thanks for the wealth of information!

I usually coat exposed areas with olive oil once a day, but still find myself using lotion over and over again on my hands, elbows and decollete. A lotion bar sounds like it might be the thing to carry around in my purse and stop that incessant lotion-rubbing!

cheapsk8chick,, Lotion bars are great for those hard callused areas and for rubbing deep into the cuticles, and they are not bulky very easy to carry around, and yes you will notice that you do not have to keep reapplying a lot. The hard lotion bars have long lasting effects.

Thanks so much again for suggesting this hub, I do hope that you try lotion bar, or try making your own. Pleas let us know if you do and what you think of them.

Take care!

Thanks Chathath, so glad you stopped by. I agree it is nice knowing what goes into making the stuff you buy. I have had many ask what a lotion bar was in the past and it was just recently suggested to me to write a hub about it, so I did. Glad you enjoyed it and that you love reading about these products.

Take care

Rob

How wonderful pure and simple is. My Mom had a stroke, I flew outta here and haven't been on line till yesterday. She was in the hospital for six days, then moved to a rehab facility for 7 days now, 13 days in all. I gave her a tin of your pure and simple hand conditioner, just like that in the picture above, she takes it out uses it, holding it, moving it around in her hands, back and forth for a long time, smelling it and just getting tons of therapeutic benefits from it. I smile thinking of you as she enjoys her little tin of healing. Love your new profile pic, good catch. Love and Peace, Katie

Katie, I am so sorry to hear of your Mothers stroke, I had noticed your absence and was hoping that everything was OK. Hoping your Mom recovers quickly. I know exactly what your going through, my Grandfather had a serious stroke years ago which paralyzed him completely on his left side.

I am so happy to hear that she is enjoying her little tin of healing that you gave her, and that this lotion bar made you think of one of your friends from Hubland. We have such a great and supportive community here with real relationships.

Also glad you like the new profile pic, I got sick of looking at my mug, and do not have many pictures of my self, and every fisherman loves to brag about his catch-right.

Katie, praying for healing and blessing upon you and your family. Take good care of Mom, and great to see you back on Hubpages.
