I agree! For years I have been a landscaper and have always enjoyed plants for design and now have such a greater appreciation and I am constantly learning and amazed what these plants can do.

Yes you can grow food all year round, and depending on where you live can it be easier or more challenging than others. There are many ways to keep the colder climate plants like lettuce, and kale that do not require a lot of heat during the winter. This is fantastic, I love it! My two daughters are always happy to plant and maintain their own gardens. We do this living in the city, it can be done anywhere. The hardest part was getting the soil moved in and healthy, it took a few years for that BUT it can be used all the while as it's a work in progress.
They also make their own lip balms and lotions from the plants they grow. I have many a homemade beauty treatment handcrafted by them. I'm happy they embrace my love and respect for the earth. We one day plan to have a vast organic farm raising more and more of what we need. I hope it continues to catch on. Love, Peace and Joy to you my favorite Green Guru. :)

Great hub! This is a hobby of mine that is always fascinating to me, to learn about herbs and their uses. That they have really great medicinal uses is just amazing, and using them with newer medicines is something that can really help people.
